Posted by Muchohombre on 2022 Jun 14th I purchased this because of the good experience I had with one of their monochrome laser printers. Out of the box it wasn't printing in color. A call to their tech support resolved the issue. There was nothing wrong with the printer itself. It was a matter of changing one setting. Since then it has printed everything well. I do wish this printer offered automatic duplex printing, but at this price point I am not complaining. Color laser printers can get very expensive and this printer is very reasonably priced. 5 Quiet and efficient Posted by Nina Gagnon on 2022 Jun 14th I had a brother laser printer that finally crapped out on me after 10+ years, five of which were with heavy use for my home business printing invoices. So when I had to buy a new printer, right during Christmas selling season, I had to go with brother again. So far it has been efficient, quick and supremely quiet compared to my old printer. I'm sure this will last a long time. (Also be aware brother and other printer manufacturers build in a low toner function even if your toner is fine. Check out tutorials online to hack this function and you'll extend the life of your printer a ton) 5 Couldn't be happier Posted by Gray Squirrel on 2022 Jun 14th I have been looking for a new printer for a while and running Ubuntu Linux on my computer not all printers are compatible. Having used an HP InkJet for years I finally had enough. I bought this as a factory refurbished model and I couldn't be happier. Setup was a breeze. HP used to be as well but as of late they have gotten more complicated to set up. Having to download and install drivers and not to mention ink cartridges. I don't print that much but when I did it got expensive real quick. Now this one won't be any cheaper for cartridges, but I get 20-30 times more jobs done before I need to worry about that. Do your homework if you need a new printer might I suggest one of these? Love you Brother! 5 Seamless printing and cross platform integration Posted by Cory on 2022 Jun 14th I work with printers and print servers for a living hell I hire people based on their commercial printer knowledge and ability to repair and diagnose issues. I'm actual impressed with this device and the software/lack of software that Brothers has used for this device. In a divided household of Apple, Chrome and PC users the setup and ease of use was so simple that everyone was able to use it within minutes of me setting up the WiFI connection. I cant talk to the longevity but the build quality is great and only weak spot i see maybe the toner cartridge's themselves. Time will tell on if it will work so seamless with different operating systems but its SO much easier to work with then any HP printer I've used 5 The printer is BIG but the quality is awesome! The speed for printing is pretty fast and if you are a super observant person like myself then you’ll notice when the paper is grabbed and about to be sent through the laser printer(I’m sure I’m not the only one who notices). The printer is quite big but it’s not that loud when it prints which is awesome! The one bad thing I’ve noticed though(gave it 4 stars for printing) is that when I print multiple pictures, the color quality lacks in a few pictures. Maybe it’s because I’m still using the starter packs that came with the printer? I’m not sure yet BUT when I print one photo, it turns out BEAUTIFULLY. No smudges, blotches, and it’s clear. The instructions were pretty clear to follow and the pictures were pretty helpful as well. Overall, I say it’s a pretty good printer and for the price too! I hope once I switch out the toners my issues with printing multiple photos will be fixed! I love this printer so far!! 5 I am pleased so far, at the 3 month mark Posted by M. For starters, connecting printers to wi-fi networks is (and probably always will be) my time to brush up on all the good swear words. I have hooked up several different printers to wifi over the years, not a single one without enough foul utterances to peel paint off the walls. This printer was no more frustrating than any other in that regard, so it doesn't affect my rating. Print quality is good for my needs - color spreadsheets, shaded CAD prints, and the occasional color print-at-home gift card. I don't print any portraits, so I can't speak to that. It's online when I need it to be, without any additional prompting or steps to wake it up, and responds in a reasonably timely fashion. Not the speediest per page, and you can definitely hear it print, but it's quiet when not printing. It's bigger & heavier than most printers, but that's not a bad thing for a clutz like myself. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase after the first 3 months. I fell in love with brother printers after I had the HL-3170CDW for years, but then the fuser broke. So I purchased this one, and it was a steal, only $199.99 with overnight delivery! I’ve had this printer for almost a month now & nothing has gone wrong. The print quality is great for what I print, mainly invoices &packing slips, so I can’t say what the quality is for pictures. I purchased generic toners for this printer before the return date to make sure they’ll work with this printer. And they do! Recognized all 4 toners with no issues. ONLY con is that it’ll go into deep sleep mode, but all u have to do is press the on button right before printing & within 1 second it’s “awake”. All in all, great printer. Don’t be swayed by the bad reviews, as this is a great choice.. I’ll update if anything goes wrong. 5 Love love love Posted by Weltonlj on 2022 Jun 14th Update: I have now had to replace all the toner that came in the machine, but I’m pleased as to how much I got out of them! The black went first about two weeks ago, and now I just had to buy the three colors. I’ve been through roughly 3000 prints now! I just got this printer today and I put it to the test! Setup was very easy, took maybe 15 minutes but that’s mostly because my internet is super slow. I’ve printed about 300 pages today and it is so fast!! My old HP Envy 4500 claimed to print 17ppm and this one prints 19ppm. Well I printed 48 pages on this in the same time I would have printed maybe 4-5 pages on the HP! So far it hasn’t lost WiFi connection at all and it has gone into deep sleep many times throughout the day with no problem waking up. I’ve printed from both my computer and iPhone with no problems at all. So far I am loving this printer!!! I did notice I’m the only one that has left a review for the new model so maybe they have fixed all the issues the older model was having? Thus far I have to admit that this is by far the best printer I’ve ever had! No paper jams, fast printing, and as far as quality- it’s better than the old printer but I have so far only printed out curriculum materials for school. If your on the fence I’d say get it!! It’s now a week later and I’m running low on black toner after printing close to 2000 pages! Considering the yield is 1400 pages on the toner it came with and it’s still printing that’s awesome! I did order another black but won’t replace it until it’s completely empty.
